The Fastest Guitar Alive (1967)
..It's always interesting to watch a movie that another star passed on. The Fastest Guitar Alive was turned down by Elvis. Why? Maybe he noticed the material was weaker than Kissin Cousin or maybe he had another fried peanut butter & banana sandwich to eat. The world will never know so this ended up being a vehicle for Roy Orbison to showcase his talents. If you're a fan of The Big O you can't really go wrong here. I've been a fan ever since I experienced In Dream while watching Blue Velvet. Roy has a great gimmick guitar that not only plays fine little ditties but is also a loaded firearm. He ends up trading it off to the Natives for his escape but I wish he had handed that strumming gun off to Ted Nugent. Even though The Fast Guitar Alive was a flop I could stand to see another one especially w/ Uncle Ted
